In order to ensure the current state of practical training of students to practice practical skills, typical skills and manipulation techniques in accordance with the current end-to-end training programs, curricula and requirements of educational and qualification characteristics of students of Kharkiv National Medical University in 2015, simulation classes were created. a method of training with a wide range of simulators to practice practical skills with a high level of realism. Computer and virtual modeling of various clinical situations is a new direction in the modern school of training highly qualified medical staff of senior and middle management.

The purpose of this area is to create organizational and educational conditions for improving the quality of training, retraining and advanced training of doctors, as well as the development of professional competence of health care professionals in Ukraine.

Advantages of simulation training:

- Clinical experience in a virtual environment without risk to the patient;

- Objective assessment of the achieved level of skill;

- Unlimited number of repetitions to practice skills;

- Practice of actions at rare and life-threatening pathologies;

- Part of the functions of the teacher takes over the virtual simulator;

- Reduced stress during the first independent manipulations;

- Development of both individual skills and abilities, and the ability of team interaction.


Types of simulation training on the basis of interdepartmental stimulation classes of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Education Quality of KhNMU

1. Individual trainings on mannequins (namely, conducting practical classes where students under the guidance of a teacher independently develop skills.)

2. Modeling of situational tasks (namely, multi-level situations when a student develops practical skills according to standard schemes for providing medical care)

3. Team development of skills in clinical situations (in this case, students learn coordinated teamwork)

4. Distance learning

5. Training through the demonstration of educational films created on the same mannequins with different complex pathologies.

6. Interactive learning

7. Integration into the lecture process.

8. Interdepartmental integration (namely the simultaneous work of two or more departments on one mannequin in the form of work in a virtual operating room such as the Department of Anesthesiology and the Department of Surgery).

Already today on the basis of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Education Quality of KhNMU there are interdepartmental stimulation classes in the field of "Emergency Medicine", "Therapy", "Obstetrics and Gynecology", "Surgery", "Pediatrics", which are equipped with new state-of-the-art simulators. and phantoms to ensure the quality of the educational process and the rector's control of the level of practical skills and techniques for providing emergency medical care to 5th year students and the first part of the practice-oriented exam (PODI) for graduate students.

The arm trainer for measurement of arterial pressure and pulse is made by the 3Bscientific company (Germany). This is a multifunctional training manual designed to help health professionals learn the processes required to perform auscultatory procedures and blood pressure measurement techniques.

The model of imitation of childbirth, made by 3Bscientific (Germany), is a model of the lower part of the female body with all anatomical structures, and also has two female and male fetuses with placenta.

NOELLE newborn birth simulatorPEDI BlueNeonate, manufactured by 3Bscientific (Germany), includes a newborn with a placenta, a newborn for resuscitation with realistic intubated airways and a place for an umbilical catheter.

The newborn resuscitation manikin, manufactured by 3Scientific (Germany), has a controller and a recorder of ventilation and compression on the chest.

Lumbar puncture machine LumbarPunctureTrainer, manufactured by Gaumard (USA). This simulator is compatible with ultrasound and includes: lumbar vertebrae, iliac crest, spinous process, yellow ligaments, space for epidural blockade and dura mater, replaceable tissues, a syringe with a connector type "Luer-LOK".
